Chris Distefano · 2022 · Netflix
A fast, martini-fueled half-hour of loud New York stories.

Chris Distefano performs with the breathless energy of a guy cornering you at a bar after his third drink. Which makes sense, considering he filmed this set after downing six martinis. That loose, unvetted vibe is what makes the half-hour set entertaining; it plays less like a highly structured theater show and more like a series of fast, off-the-cuff stories told by a guy who is completely fine with saying the wrong thing.\n\nFilmed at the Gramercy Theatre in Manhattan, the 36-minute performance was self-produced by Distefano and licensed to Netflix in May 2022. At this point in his career, he had transitioned from MTV’s Guy Code to a successful podcast host, co-hosting Hey Babe! and Chrissy Chaos. The material focuses heavily on his domestic life, including his wife going through his phone, his chaotic Puerto Rican in-laws, and a bizarre anecdote about his dad eating pizza with Steven Tyler.\n\nWhile some viewers noted that his heavy podcasting schedule meant a few premises felt more like loose conversational riffs than tightly written routines, the crowd’s enthusiasm keeps the momentum up. In late 2024, Netflix removed the special, prompting Distefano to buy back the rights and upload the entire show to YouTube.
