Wait For It

Tyler Boeh

Comedy Dynamics · 2018 · 50 min

Clean observational comedy backed by vocal percussion and dubstep drops.

Stand-up comics with a secondary stage skill usually let the gimmick do the heavy lifting, but Tyler Boeh treats his vocal percussion background as punctuation rather than a crutch. He builds straightforward setups about modern annoyances and the chemical panic of downing two 5-Hour Energys, then abruptly layers complex mouth sounds into dial-up modems and dubstep drops applied to church music.

Taped in September 2017 at the Dry Bar club in Provo, Utah, the 43-minute set was released in early 2018, arriving alongside his second album, Full Circle. The performance quickly turned into an online calling card for the clean-comedy distributor, pulling in tens of millions of views across clip shares.

Between the beatbox breaks, he sticks to self-deprecating observational material: surviving high school wrestling when unequipped for combat, living with a lazy eye, and explaining why Red Bull tastes like pennies.
