Adam Sank

Long before Grindr flattened gay hookup culture into swipe fatigue, guys paid four dollars a minute to listen to anonymous recordings on dial-up phone sex lines. Sank builds an entire closing routine around that era, imagining what happened when the voice behind Sesame Street’s Elmo allegedly surfaced on the party networks. Recorded in September 2015 upstairs at The Stonewall Inn in New York City and released that December by Comedy Dynamics, Live from the Stonewall Inn marked his debut stand-up album after twelve years of working clubs and cable commentary gigs. Across 44 minutes, he jokes about bad bedroom dirty talk, straight male anatomy, and the suspicion that his pet dog might be gay. The release topped the iTunes and Amazon comedy download charts upon its Christmas Day debut.
