Chris Porter relies on a straightforward, mildly irritated Midwestern perspective to make his case that modern life has gotten unnecessarily complicated. His strongest routines focus on hipsters ruining the simple American hamburger with complex artisanal backstories, and the stubborn absurdity of the flat-earth debate. He keeps his material free of heavy political or religious arguments, choosing instead to talk about the oddities of everyday masculine life—such as using an “Uber for handymen” app or deciding what sort of terrible behavior you will overlook in the heat of a moment. Filmed at the Gothic Theatre in Denver, Colorado, on August 17, 2018, and released by Comedy Dynamics in April 2019, this third one-hour special arrived five years after his previous release, “Ugly & Angry”, which had enjoyed a long, highly rated run on Netflix.
