I Got Questions

John Crist

Comedy Dynamics · 2015

Clean observational comedy recorded in a Utah club before viral fame.

Homeschooling and church life give a comic two options: full rebellion or affectionate, inside-baseball mockery. John Crist picked the latter. He walks onstage leaning hard into the strange domestic logic of sheltered households, treating modern parenting anxieties and youth-group rituals like eccentric corporate subcultures.

Recorded at Wiseguys Comedy Club in Ogden, Utah, the 54-minute set captured Crist in late 2015, shortly before his social media sketches blew up his touring profile. At the time, he was a regular on the club circuit, having spent years opening for acts like Louie Anderson and winning regional comedy competitions around the Mountain West.

His material keeps things strictly clean, aiming its energy at fast-food encounters, competitive parents hovering over little league, and the awkward friction between religious habits and ordinary life. Directed by Weston Woodbury, the production stays simple and close to the small-room vibe, showing a comedian working out his rhythm on an intimate stage without the polished sheen of the theater tours that followed.
