The BFFG (The Big Fat Funny Ginger)

Jordan Makin builds his entire set around physical indignity without sounding pathetic about it. He knows he is a heavy, pale redhead from Utah County, and he treats that combination as an ongoing logistical problem. The sharpest bit comes when universal safety restraints defeat him on a Harry Potter theme-park ride, transforming what was supposed to be a vacation into a public reminder that amusement park engineers design for an entirely different body type.

He is steady at turning minor embarrassments into matter-of-fact confessions.

Filmed at the Dry Bar Comedy venue in Provo, Utah, the 40-minute performance helped introduce Makin beyond regional clubs like Wiseguys. Makin leans into everyday irritations: the quiet guilt induced by a buzzing Fitbit, the sheer length of text people slap onto bumper stickers, the eerie boredom of working hotel night shifts, and an unprovoked grudge against improv troupes. He also talks about growing up Mormon and pale, where step one of going outdoors is accepting that the sun wants him dead.
