Unsung Hero

Josh Sneed

Comedy Dynamics · Album · 2015 · 50 min

A club set about marriage, yard sales, and mild Midwestern defeat.

The centerpiece of the set is a garage sale where bargain hunters offer pennies for items Sneed actually cares about. Insulted in his own driveway, he pulls an old toaster, a cord-free original PlayStation, and a stack of collectible fast-food buckets off the table, driving them straight to Goodwill out of spite. That specific strain of quiet domestic exasperation drives the hour.

Recorded at the Columbus Funny Bone in January 2014 and released by Comedy Dynamics the following year, the set caught the Cincinnati comic settling into the routines of early fatherhood. Sneed had stepped back from regular club touring after his 2008 Comedy Central debut to start a family and run an apparel business, and this record marked his return to full-time stand-up.

The material tracks the modest compromises of suburban life: struggling through high-intensity workout DVDs, family vacations in Gatlinburg, and realizing his kids have already figured out how to manage him. Sneed works clean throughout, favoring patient storytelling over manufactured outrage.
