The Guest List - Season 1

Explaining domestic chaos by declaring yourself a woodland scavenger is an oddly sensible defense. Bamford accounts for torn-open food boxes and abandoned drinks by explaining to her partner that she is a raccoon: she needs to get in, get what is good, and move on. She clutches the microphone stand with both hands as if steadying herself against a sudden gust of wind, letting pitch shifts and small mimicries carry the burden of the conversation.

The set was filmed at The Barrel House, an intimate San Francisco speakeasy, for the debut season of Seeso’s showcase series The Guest List. The club operated under an unannounced-lineup premise where audiences bought tickets without knowing who would appear. Directed by Claude Shires, the late 2015 taping placed Bamford on a bill alongside Aparna Nancherla, Alex Edelman, and host Kaseem Bentley.

Bamford was newly married and prepping Lady Dynamite when this was taped, and the brief appearance works as an unadorned workshop for the relationship material that later made up Old Baby.
