Brandon Brickz uses his imposing physical presence to set up a surprisingly self-aware, conversational set for his half-hour debut. Performing in the tight confines of the Belly Room at West Hollywood’s Comedy Store, the Los Angeles native leans heavily on self-deprecation, immediately addressing his size and his chosen online moniker, diabetesthesecond, before diving into the mechanics of his everyday life. He has a relaxed, casual delivery that works well in the intimate room, treating the stage more like a backyard barbecue than a theatrical venue.

The set moves through a series of blunt, highly personal anecdotes about domestic life, relationship friction, and his own physical quirks. He jokes about navigating HR complaints by pretending to be gay, using his lazy eye to stare at women at the airport, and the sudden shift from old-school racism to modern, micro-aggressive variants. While some of the relationship material treads familiar ground, contrasting his life as a caring husband with the nostalgic freedom of being single, his charm and expressive storytelling elevate the material. He closes the tight 30-minute set with a story about a misunderstanding that nearly got him canceled in church.
