Two Wrongs

Gus Tate has a knack for applying strict, logical reasoning to deeply uncomfortable premises. The centerpiece of the special, which provides its title, is a dryly analytical argument that combining two terrible moral failures actually yields a slightly less harmful person—specifically, how a child abuser who is also a racist has a restricted target pool and is therefore marginally less dangerous to society.

Filmed at the New York Comedy Club in April 2025 and self-released on YouTube that July, Two Wrongs is Tate’s second hour following 2023’s Top Gus. Tate, a Kentucky native who spent years performing stand-up in Beijing, China, before relocating to New York, relies on a highly structured, deadpan delivery. He brings this same level of low-key logic to domestic topics, such as the agonizingly slow pace of putting shoes on a toddler and the terrifying mystery of dad reflexes.

Rather than relying on high-energy theatricality, Tate keeps things grounded with a flat, conversational cadence. He turns mundane city observations, such as the famous Joshua Bell subway experiment or the awkwardness of house husbandry, into sharp, cynical insights.
