Jack Dee built a career out of looking like he would rather be anywhere else. His 1992 Channel 4 series operates like a staged cabaret night, set in the fictional Bohemia Club. He performs in a sharp suit, staring down the crowd with a deadpan delivery that treats basic social interaction as an exhausting burden.

The episodes run under thirty minutes, breaking up his routines with live music from Seamus Beaghen and The Apollos. The series served as his first major television vehicle, commissioned after he won the British Comedy Award for Best Stage Newcomer. It established a format he would rely on for decades: standing completely still and complaining.
